Oh So Very Close....

With just a little over four weeks left until D-Day...The arrival of my mom's help couldn't be more perfect. She's the reason for my absence as of late, in the blogging world. She got here late Monday afternoon, and will sadly be leaving to get back home tomorrow. (don't worry, she plans to fly out as soon as the Dr. gives me the ole' any day now) We were finally able to get Lena's room organized and put together, and ended up having to add shelving to her closet so all of her clothing could be accomodated. We also did a "little" shopping. Might as well get my fix in now, I am sure after she is born it'll be a while before I feel like getting out and going on my own with a newborn!!

Mom also got to go with me to my Dr. visit last week. It all worked out so perfectly since Josh was going to need to be out of town for work. He had planned on driving the 2 hours back and forth to South Carolina for a couple of days, but since mom was with me. he felt better about leaving and I told him it'd be better for him all around to just stay the night!! Anyways, at the appointment Dr. Croce guessed that Lena is right around 6 pounds...WOWZERS!!! I was 7 lbs 13 ounces when I was born (a week later than the due date) and Josh was born 3 weeks early at around 7 pounds. Let's face it, she will be on the bigger side of the scale. Which is wonderful!! The more there is to squeeze and love on, the better! She also said her head feels down, and I am measuring great. I have truly been blessed with an amazing pregnancy. I have had the usual sickness and aches, but no major scares that have kept me up at night! "Thank the good Lord".

I start my weekly visits on Wednesday. Josh is taking the entire day off so we can get down to Charlotte to sign our "Living Trust", spend some us time together, and get to the doctor!! Another note...Josh got a raise this week! How exciting! I couldn't be more proud of him. He has done such an amazing job at work, home, being a husband, and I have no doubt this father thing will come naturally to him!! I am sooo lucky all the way around!!

I will post some pictures of Lena's new and improved room later, along with a tour of our finally finished and beautiful home!! Much love and happy blogging to all!! :0)

Week 35

I get butterflies everytime I think about how close we are to holding Little Lena in our arms!! After next week I will be considered at full term, and it really could just happen any day!! WOW....I am about to be a mommy!!! I have those moments when I think we are way to young for this, but I couldn't imagine my life going in any other direction right now!!

How far along?: 35 weeks
•Total weight gain: About 33/35 pounds. And my belly feels like it just gets bigger every single day!!!
•How big is baby?: Something I read said about 5.5 pounds and anywhere around 18-20 inches long. No wonder the poor thing is running outa room!!
•Maternity clothes?: Yup yup! I bought some new sweats and shirts the other day. I had told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore, but really was needing more lounge clothes and knew they were going to be needed after the birth!! What I really wanted to buy was this cute Vera Wang outfit I saw at Kohl's. Josh told me to get it, but I don't think he understands that my big toe wouldn't even fit into it! haha...soon enough!
•Stretch marks?: I really wish I could post a pic of these things. They are HIDEOUS. Josh conties to tell me they are looking much better, and not to worry about it, but cmon, my hiney is looking like a flippin road map!!
•Sleep?: After being sick last week I told Josh I think it gave me an opportunity to actually sleep. With a fever my body was trying everything it could to fight off the virus....including sleep!! It was horrible and amazing in the same respect!
Best moment this week?: The best moment will definitely be when my mom gets here today. I told her she was welcome to stay with us until Lena appeared, but she's convinced we would all drive each other nuts!! haha!!
•Movement?: Yes, and you can see it all! Twice now i have been able to feel and see her practice breathing. You ask how do I know that's what I am seeing...Well, it comes in a small pattern, and is not violent like the hiccups. My belly has a spot that will just move up and down in a tiny pattern, only slightly quicker then my own! It's so neat!
•Food cravings?: I was really wanting a cherry slush the other day while Josh and I were out, so he stopped by Sam's and got me one, and himself a hotdog of course!!!
•Labor signs?: Lots and lots of cramping. I thought the perk of pregnancy was not to have to deal with menstrual like symptoms....haha WRONG!
•Belly button in or out?: It's much more out these days!! Joshua thinks it's his new toy and will not leave it alone!! I've decided I am going to start poking him in his belly button everytime he bothers mine...bet that'll make him stop!
•What I miss: Feeling in shape! We went up to the park in our neighborhood yesterday to run around with Allie and shoot the basketball a little....I was sore later that day! No lie, I think I have shin splints now!
•Milestone: I have currently conquered my fear of labor. There for about a month it was all I could think about. I read and watched everything I possibly could on giving birth, and it MORTIFIED me!! I've never had any type of surgery, or been in the hospital for some long period of time. I've now come to the realization that I can and will do this! God will not give me anymore than I can handle, and when the pain becomes too much to bare....gimme them meds!! ;0)

More Baby Brain!!

Let me start this short blog by saying....WHEW!! The CATS just about made me go into early labor tonight!! With that said!!

I thought I needed to share with you my baby brain story of the day! So I got my haircut yesterday!! LOVEN it...so obviously I wanted to get ready this morning and play with the style. To finish off the style I sprayed, what I thought was hairspray. After standing around talking to Josh I noticed my hair was going completely flat, and smelt of cotton. I had sprayed my deodorant on my hair!! BAHAHA!!! We both began laughing, I teased back out my style and continued getting ready! My last step of the morning was brushing my teeth, which didn't last long. A short while into it my toothbrush broke in half....WHAT!!!?? (That mommy superpower is kicking in)

We found this comic relief to be a wonderful start to a stressful morning!! :0)

Today's Fail

So last night was planned to begin today with the best of every intention, we were scheduled for our "Planned Childbirth" class. A seven hour class of nurses showing you other women's "hooha's" and terrified men!! Unfortunately, last nights preparations didn't pay off. I woke up about 2 this morning sick to my stomach....again. Granted this time was nothing like Tuesday's illness, it still had me down for a few hours. My stomach was in so much intense pain that for a minute I considered the possibility of early labor.

I finally settled down and started to feel better about 530/6, with an alarm set for 7! (yeah right, not happening) My husband did get up at 7, but graciously shut the door and left me in bed, knowing I had been up the night before. Unfortunately he "lost track of time" and forgot to get me up to get ready for our class...and let's be honest, after a night of yuckiness, this chick was not going without a shower today. And I was also not showing up over an hour late and rushing to play catch up. So, we missed our birthing class.

To be honest....I'm not too disappointed. I wasn't looking forward to it, and was just really going for the tour and lamaze skills. However, I found out that they don't really teach you "lamaze". They go over certain breathing exercises, but nothing too in depth. Plus, I have read every book under the sun, and am pretty sure that no matter how prepared you feel for pushing a human life out of your goodies, it will NOT go the way you plan!! :0)

So, alas, today I am waiting for that dreaded call from my mother telling me we made a huge mistake!! 23, about to have a child, and still scared of my mommy!! :0)

Out of Room- EVERYWHERE!!

It's official, my little gift from Heaven is running out of room, and there are no more places for storage in my house!! My poor tummy looks so distorted when she begins to move around!! Josh gets a kick out of it. I am more excited for her to get here for Josh....is that weird?? He's expressed some "jealousy" (I don't think that's the right word) toward the fact that I have already had a chance to bond with Lena. He's so excited, and completely clueless, the two combined make for an adorable and terrifying picture!! :0)

After our shower this weekend we brought all of Lena's gifts upstairs and layed them out in the loft while we strategized where everything could be stored. We began to talk and he mentioned to me that although he couldn't be more appreciative for everything, he felt like he was missing out on the opportunity to get for her. I had to reassure him that we were going to have PLENTY to buy for her over the next...well the rest of our lives!!

I am so amazingly blessed to have a husband that is truly excited, and wants to be a part of this process. I know too many wives who truly do it all on their own, and I couldn't imagine. There's no doubt in my mind that we will bicker, and there will be hard times, but the amazing thing about us is that neither of us keep our feelings bottled in. We pretty much tell each other how it is!! Our motto- NEVER...EVER...go to bed mad at one another!! We've spent countless late nights in the past arguing until there was resolution! It's worked thus far....!!!

I guess we just have to remember that God will never give us anything more than we can handle. And patience will take you a LOOONG way!!

Catching up to do!!

Sorry for being MIA the last few days. Joshua and I left Friday afternoon to head home for our baby shower. After getting caught in a snow storm we decided to pull off and stay the night in Knoxville and wake up early to finish the drive. We got there about an hour before the shower actually started, it was a LONG day to say the least. We stayed until Monday morning before getting back on the road to North Carolina. I will post some pictures and all about the shower later!! Today, unfortunately, I have been so very sick. It's been a while since I have actually been "sick". (fever, chills, naseau, achiness) You name it, I had it! So Joshua stayed home to take care of me...hopefully his immune system holds up!

So since I haven't posted my survey this week, I am going to go ahead and put it on here and promise to catch you up on all the fun details later on...maybe on a day when I am feeling more myself!!

How far along?: 34 weeks
•Total weight gain: About 33 pounds, but after today I am sure I lost a couple!!!!
•How big is baby?: Not really sure. About 5 pounds!!
•Maternity clothes?: Love em!! Finally got another gown for the hospital and a nursing bra!! Almost time!
•Stretch marks?: yup!!
•Sleep?: So even though I have been sick the last 24 hours, I have found that I have gotten some of the best sleep of my pregnancy thus far!!
Best moment this week?: For sure the amazing shower thrown by our families on Saturday. Plus just getting to go home and enjoy it knowing it'll be a while before we get the chance to travel back
•Movement?: Yeppers. Josh gets a kick out of it. She's so strong!!
•Food cravings?: Hmm nothing this week that I can think of, but again I have been sick. I have only had a bowl of cereal since about 2 yesterday afternoon, and even that has bade me feel a bit upset!
•Labor signs?: Braxton hicks and some cramping...but not "labor"!
•Belly button in or out?: Right now it doesn't look like I have much of a belly button!!! LoL it's pretty flushed with the rest of my belly!
•What I miss: A clean house. I know it's over for us from here on out. My entire loft it FLOODED with Lena's stuff, and I am completely overwhelmed as to what to do with it. Thank goodness my mom is going to be here next week!!!!
•Milestone: Making it to our shower!! Lena def. racked up and will not have to do without. So amazing to know how loved our little one is!

Getting in the Way...

So this adorable baby bump I have been working on the last eight months is starting to cause problems for me!! Not only can I NOT put on shoes, tie them, properly shave my legs, comfortably wash off in our stand in shower, or pick much of anything up off the floor, but I have officially crossed over into that miserable pregnant stage. EVERYTHING hurts...esp my back and rib cage! With most of the weight gain in my mid section, I feel like I am carrying around a backpack full of rocks and stones.

A couple years ago I got into two wrecks in the same summer. Since then my back has been warped....working as a server at a restaurant didn't help either. Before getting pregnant I had been able to take a muscle relaxer to help the pain. Since the only thing you can really take preggo is Tylenol, I have spent a LOT of time trying to relax in the tub. This helps while I am there, but the second I get out it tenses up again. And as for the stretches suggested...they really don't do much at all!

So, I'm learning to live and deal with it for now. I change positions... A LOT!! And don't stand for long intervals. Hopefully this doesn't mean I will have some horrible back labor!! :0)

"Getting to Know Me..."

So I know I have done a ton of pregnancy surveys, but I thought I would put one up that gave blog readers more of an insight to just plain ole me!!

Do you have any pets?
Yup!! We have a beautiful and spoiled year old Cocker Spaniel named Allie Mae!!

What was the last book you read?
I just finished ready Breaking Dawn again the night before last! Not exactly something a pregnant woman should be reading before bed!! :0)

Do you like to cook?
Love it!! So does Josh, but we hate the cleanup!

What's your favorite food?
Hmm...I love food in general! But I have to say that right now I really miss a good Medium Rare steak!!!

Do you have brothers and sisters?
I have one "little" brother!! I say "little" because he's probably a foot taller than I am!

Have you ever met a famous person?
Several!!! In one night I met a Rascal Flat, John Rich, and Mickey Rourke!! There are others, but I won't brag! LoL

How do you spend your free time?
Blogging, what else!?

Tell me about a favorite event of your adulthood.
Thus far my wedding, but I am sure that will change in about a month!

Tell me about a favorite event of your childhood.
My cousin Nadina used to spend a lot of weekends at our Mamaw Sanders' house. We used to pack picnic lunches and head out for exploring during the day. There was this one gravel road we never made it to the end of....too scared!!

What are your hobbies?
Music and theatre are two HUGE hobbies for me!! I am hoping in the fall I can audition and join a choir out here in NC!

What do you do on Sundays?
Depends on where I am. When at home I go to my church and then to my Mamaw's for lunch with the whole family. At mine and Josh's we usually get up early and cook breakfast and share in a nice quiet day together. We have yet to find a church out here we are comfortable with!!

What do you do? What's your job?
I am a Mary Kay consultant and soon to be Mommy!!!!

What is your motto in life?
Happiness is a choice!!!

Would you like to be famous?
If you had asked me this question, oh say, 4 years ago the answer would be YES!!! Today, however, I really value my privacy and being able to enjoy the simple things life has to offfer- ie going out to dinner uninterrupted!!

What do you think you will be doing five years from now?
Watching my little girl start kindergarten!!

What super-power would you most like to have, and why?
The power to heal...I hate seeing people in pain!

Would you live with someone without marrying them?
Negative!! Why not just get married...?? Seems like a cop out or fear of commitment to do so! Plus I am pretty traditional about certain things!!

Are you a beach, country or city person?
All three!! I hope one day Josh and I have a house far enough out to have land, but a close enough drive into the city....and who doesn't come back feeling better after a week at the beach!?

Where do you spend most of your money?
Right now on baby!! A large majority has also gone to fixing up our house!! But in a general sense....food!! It's amazing how much you have to eat!! ;0)

Inspiring Giveaway!!

"All American Jess" is doing a wonderful giveaway with a connection through St. Judes!! I know there are so many giveaways that are going on in blog land, but the ones like this that really help and go towards a good cause are worth the effort to read and enter for!! Please check it out and take a look at her amazing blog!!

What's with my mind!!!

Ok, so I have a few minutes here, before I need to finish my morning duties, so I thought I'd let you all in on something!! I have MAJOR baby brain....and NOT the good kind. I'm talking forgetful, can't finish sentences, and words have amazingly vanished from my vocabulary baby brain.

Let me explain. In the last month I have deep fried a top, melted a spatula, burnt tea, and couldn't figure out what that boiling noise was about ( I had forgotten about the water I was boiling on the stove)!!! All of these have occurred simply because I forgot, or just wasn't thinking. The deep fried top incident came about when I decided to make some french fries. I plugged in my little deep fryer and left in on the kitchen counter to heat up, unfortunately I forgot to take the plastic top off of the top- HOLY COW!! I was soo confused when I got back into the kitchen as to why the grease looked so black, and what was that smell!! Luckily clean up wasn't to big of a job. The spatula had it coming. I have had this utensil since I lived in my apartment...so years!! I had this amazing idea, as they usually are, to make myself pancakes for lunch. So I made the most delicious round sweetness, "thought" I turned off the griddle, and for some reason placed the plastic spatula on top. **sigh** Thus again I was left wondering what the smell was...a lovely glob of melted plastic. Again cleanup was easy!!

I have also spilled an entire pitcher of tea on the stove top....it also smells bad, and many times have left water boiling, only left trying to figure out where that odd water noise is coming from!! I find it hillarious at the moment, but I think my husband is pretty convinced he's going to come home to a pile of ashes with me standing confused in the middle, holding Allie!!

Did I mention I also burnt the baby bump making cinnamon toast!!??

The WEENER!!!

So...I PROMISE this was in no way shape or form rigged!!! But congratulations to Nadina from "The Alexander Family" for winning the Satin Lips Set!! Head over to her blog ( you can find it on my side panel ) to share in the adventures of her and her family!!

(a random selector was used in finding the winner of this giveaway)

Best moment this week?: Knowing that in 3 weeks I will be considered full term. Oh, and I got Lena the cutest little Easter outfit!!
•Movement?: Most certaintly!!
•Food cravings?: Nothing too crazy!! I have really been wanting salad, and last night I thought some fried pickles sounded amazing. So Joshua made me some!!

A few of my favorite things....

Couldn't start a post like this without my little nugget!! I have 3D/4D images that haven't been uploaded yet!! But, I still love looking at her 7 week ultrasound!! Amazes me everytime. Josh and I don't stand a chance here, we are already wrapped around those little fingers!

New Balance has been my fav. tennis shoe since highschool. I found this pair, believe it or not, at Sams Club (another one of my favorite things)!!!

I love love love Coach handbags!!! Not because of the "name", but because they are adorable, you can carry them with anything, and they hold up!! I have Coach bags that are a few years old that look brand new!! I believe that when you invest in anything like a purse, or shoes, that you know you will use constantly, it's ok to spend a little more so it lasts a little longer!!

I found this diaper bag last night at JCPenney (crazy) and just had to have it!! I am sure I will get another one...maybe two at the shower, but I love bags and know I will use every single one of them!!

I know this is like I am "cheating" on my Mary Kay, but I absolutely adore Bare minerals!! I quit wearing it when I started to sell Mary Kay, but really miss the foundation. I have a feeling I will be going back to it very soon!! *sigh*

How could you not just love that innocent face?

I have the most amazing family in the world!!!

Marriage has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life!! My only regret is that I hesitated and waited for so long!!!

If it wasn't hard enough....

So if I was lacking in the patience department before, this week it has only doubled!! You see, I know three girls (two today) that have and are having their babies today!! **sigh** Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely filled with overwhelming joy and pride for each of them, but I just feel like Lena can't get here quick enough. But then I have those moments when I can't believe she is almost here. I've never been a mommy, what if I am just not cut out for it!?

Of course I know that's not true. God would not have given me this precious gift if he didn't think I deserved or could handle it. Knowing that is all the reassurance I need. I know growing up my parents often drove me crazy. I had the kind that actually set rules and really did expect you to follow them. Lucky for them, I wasn't the rule breaking type of gal, not until college atleast. And by then I didn't live at home anymore!! I hated having to call my parents whenever I got some place, or decided a change of venue was in order for the night. I hated that I had to be home before all the fun really even began. I hated that I was soo afraid of disappointing my parents that I NEVER even dared to break the rules, it wasn't even an option!!

I hated those things, but couldn't be greatful enough for them now that I am older! Yes, my parents had rules, and yes I was expected to follow them. But because my parents set limits for me when I was younger, when I got older and was on my own, anytime I did something I knew they wouldn't be thrilled about I had this horrible pit in my tummy....guilt!! No, their rules didn't always prevent me from making bad choices in my adult life, but they did enable be to truly know right from wrong.

I only hope that Josh and I can be half the parents to Lena Belle as mine were for me. Sorry mom...if you are reading this and crying!! It wasn't intended to be a "sappy" story!! :0)

Soo...right now I am finding myself impatient and ready for her to get here, but I am sure once she is I would appreciate it if time just slowed to a steady pace, the good Lord knows I am not ready to deal with a teen just yet!! ;0)

Sooo Close....

It's so hard to wrap my brain around the idea that I have less than seven weeks until Ms. Lena's due date!! What's even more amazing to me is that in about 4 1/2 - 5 she will be considered "full term" and able to come at any moment!!

I will admit that I have been extremely impatient these last couple of weeks waiting for her. Being pregnant has been amazing, and there's nothing else out there more astonishing then feeling your little one move around inside of you, but I am ready to hold and cuddle her. I can see Josh's anxiousness beginning to build as well. Don't get us wrong, we are appreciated our "freedom" so to speak. We try to go out and do things together, and spoil Allie with all of our lovens!! We also still have plenty to do, and a list of things to acquire. I am hoping most of those must haves we will receive next weekend at our shower in Bowling Green!

It's nice to still have that to look forward too, instead of feeling like I am just waiting around. I am, however, absolutely DREADING the 8 hour drive. It's miserable for me to even sit for an hour in the same spot, so this is not going to be a joy ride in any way. I have a doctor's appointment next Monday, so I am praying everything is going great and I am in the clear for going away for the weekend.

Any other moms have this moment of impatient waiting spring up on you?? It's going to be a LOOONG 7 weeks!! :0)

Week 32

How far along?: 32 weeks
•Total weight gain: I'd say somewhere close to 30. But lately I don't feel like I have gained like I was there for a while! So maybe it's slowing down!!!
•How big is baby?: The book says close to 4 or so ppunds and 19 inches!!
•Maternity clothes?: Is there anything else??!!
•Stretch marks?: Yes, but I am working on them. Lots of lotion, oil, and working out!!
•Sleep?: It's definitely becoming less and less, and more painful!!
Best moment this week?: The realization that Lena could be here in about 6 weeks!!
•Movement?: Yes, but it's changing. She doesn't roll around as much....but she still give a good swift kick to my side often! haahaa
•Food cravings?: No, not really. After my husband went to the grocery before the snow storm the other day I noticed that I have been eating a lot of "kid" food. IE mac and chz, pbandj's, cereal. Apparantely that's what I've been craving without noticing. The hubs, however, made sure we were stocked up on what I wanted most before we were snowed in!! :0)
•Labor signs?: I am for sure having Braxton Hicks, and some cramping. Nothing feels serious, and I am sure my tummy is stil not done stretching...!!
•Belly button in or out?: Slowly moving out. Josh is obsessed with it. DRIVES ME CRAZY.
•What I miss: Right now I miss my family the most. I know that's not really pregnancy related, but I moved away just before I found out I was pregnant. It would be nice to be able to get up and go to my mom and dads when I need some sympathy or feel the need to be spoiled!!!
•Milestone: No crazy amazing milestone this week. Although I guess every day you wake up could most definitely be considered one. I have gotten a LOT of lovens out of my hubby though, he even gave me an amazing pedicure yesterday!!!!
